Each Community Game Changer got to direct a $25,000 donation to a cause close to their heart, helping create an even greater impact across the region. Helping build better communities
Lottery profits are not ours, they belong to our provinces and 100% of it is invested back into our communities for the good of everyone. Our profits are used to help fund important services like health care, education, and infrastructure throughout the four provinces.
We believe building stronger communities is about more than profits returned, our operations help support over 8,300 jobs and $2 billion in economic activity in Atlantic Canada annually. Our employees are active volunteers in their communities and we support grassroots and community initiatives that have important cultural, social, and economic impacts across Atlantic Canada.
Championing healthy play
Healthy play is characterized by playing for fun and entertainment with an understanding of how the games work, being able to decide how much time to spend, and playing within your limits.
Since 2022, we’ve supported this practice through our Healthy Play Policy. This policy outlines how Atlantic Lottery can proactively support players and highlights the healthy play tools available on alc.ca.
We teach players about the risks of product misuse, provide the tools to take action to reduce harm, and we ensure our games are always fair, fun, and equitable.

For 50 years, Atlantic Lottery has been proud to support the people and places that make Atlantic Canada special. As part of our 50th anniversary celebrations, we're proud to recognize our Community Game Changers from across Atlantic Canada, donating $25,000 to each of their charities of choice. Along with additional anniversary initiatives this year, we're donating a total of $200,000 to local charities that help communities thrive. Click here to learn more.
Each year, 100 per cent of Atlantic Lottery profit stays in Atlantic Canada to help fund important services we all use, like health care, education, and infrastructure. Last year $487 million was returned to the Atlantic provinces. Since opening in 1976, Atlantic Lottery has provided $12.4 billion in profits to the four Atlantic Provinces.
In FY23-24, 91 cents of every lottery dollar stayed in Atlantic Canada. In addition to 100 per cent of profit delivered to the four Atlantic provinces, this included prize money, employee salaries and benefits, retailer commissions, regional operations and taxes.
Our profits are distributed between the four Atlantic Canadian provincial governments to invest in programs and services that benefit Atlantic Canadians. Atlantic Lottery also supports grassroots and community initiatives that have important cultural, social, and economic impacts across Atlantic Canada through our sponsorship program.
Atlantic Lottery endeavors to be an open and transparent organization and makes many of its corporate records available to the public, including annual reports that highlight yearly overviews of performance and how we’ve delivered on our commitment to social purpose. Atlantic Lottery is owned by the four regional provincial governments — not private shareholders. While we do not operate as a non-profit business, 100 per cent of profit earned every year is returned to the four governments of Atlantic Canada to help fund important services we all use.
Every year, Atlantic Lottery supports grassroots initiatives that have important cultural, social and economic impacts across the region each year. In addition to our sponsorship program, Atlantic Lottery has donated more than $1.2 million to United Way and its local agencies since 1993.
