Freedom of Information
ALC is an open and transparent organization and makes many of its corporate records available to the public. ALC follows the freedom of information legislation of all four of its Atlantic provincial shareholders.
If you would like access to an ALC record that isn’t readily or routinely available, you can make a Freedom of Information (FOI) request.
What you need to do
Step 1: Check our website
You may find the information you need by checking other areas of our website:
Step 2: Contact us
If you've checked our website and still can't find the information you need, call us toll-free at
1-800-561-3942, or e-mail us at info@alc.ca.
We may be able to answer your request over the phone or by e-mail if the information is readily available. ALC’s Routine access Policy makes certain types of records accessible without the need to submit a Freedom of Information (FOI) application. There are two types of information available under the Routine access Policy. Information available through proactive disclosure is listed in Schedule A and information routinely made available upon request is listed in Schedule B.
Step 3: Submit a Freedom of Information Request
If the information you need isn't available to you through ALC’s Routine Access Policy, you may complete an FOI application. Here's how:
All FOI applications must be submitted in writing, by mail, to the attention of:
Access & Privacy Specialist
Atlantic Lottery Corporation
PO Box 5500, 922 Main Street
Moncton, NB E1C 8W6
Fax: 506-867-5450
Email: FOI@alc.ca
- Specify in your correspondence to ALC that you are making an FOI application. Provide complete details to help identify the record(s) you are looking for. To help us respond as efficiently as possible, please request only the record(s) you need.
- Please include your full name, mailing address and telephone number so that we may respond to your application. We may need to contact you to further clarify your application.
- Please contact ALC’s Access & Privacy Specialist for more information about how Freedom of Information works at ALC, for help determining what records you are looking for, or to get an update on your application.
Step 4: Receiving the Information you applied for under FOI
ALC aims to respond to requests made under FOI within 30 days of receiving the completed written application.
We will provide all of the information in the requested record(s), unless it is protected from disclosure due to reasons such as personal privacy or protection of another third party’s business interests. Exceptions to disclosure of information are provided in each atlantic Province’s Freedom of Information legislation.
ALC’s use of a particular province’s legislation will depend upon the nature of the information being requested. For example, if the requested information relates specifically to one of ALC’s shareholder provinces, ALC will follow that province’s FOI legislation. For more information on this process, please consult ALC’s Freedom of Information Policy.
