  1. What are the choices?

There are many games to choose from. These include:

    • Online terminal tickets such as Lotto 6/49, LOTTO MAX, KENO Atlantic, TAG, Pik 4, Atlantic 49, Salsa Bingo, Bucko and PRO•LINE.
    • Live harness racing and live poker at our Prince Edward Island entertainment centres.
    • Scratch'N Win tickets.
    • Breakopen tickets.
    • iBingo and Pick’nClick games on our secure games site: ALC.ca.
    • Video lottery games.

  2. What are Scratch'N Win tickets?

These are tickets that reveal game symbols and prizes when the latex covering is scratched off.

  3. What are Breakopen tickets?

Players open "windows" on the back of these tickets to find out if they're a winner.

  4. If part of a jackpot remains unclaimed, do the other winners split it?

Players are entitled to only their portion of the winnings. After the one-year expiry date is up, any remaining money goes to the unclaimed prize fund.

  5. When the jackpot is huge, why not offer several smaller prizes?

We now have a game that offers both big jackpots and smaller prizes! It’s a Friday night draw game called LOTTO MAX.

  6. Where do draws take place?

National draws, such as Lotto 6/49 and LOTTO MAX, are held in Toronto, Ont. Regional draws, like KENO Atlantic, Atlantic 49, Bucko and TAG, are done in Moncton, N.B.

  7. How do the draws work?

The majority of our lottery draws are conducted using ball machines. The balls are weighed regularly to make sure each one has an equal chance of being picked. If even one ball varies in weight, the entire set is replaced. Between draws, the balls are locked away in a sealed container. Independent auditors attend each draw, and each draw is videotaped.

In the case of games where several numbers are drawn (such as LOTTO MAX MAXMILLIONS or Salsa Bingo) a Random Number Generator (RNG) is used to generate winning numbers. There are rigorous audit processes involved with every lottery draw and using a ball machine in cases where many numbers are drawn would take an inordinate amount of time.

  8. How can we find the winning numbers?

The winning numbers for all our games are available from any Atlantic Lottery retailer and on our website. We have local winning numbers lines in Moncton, NB (867-5858), Dartmouth, NS (468-1072) and St. John’s, Nfld & Lab. (754-2992).

  9. If I have a problem ticket that cannot be validated at a retailer's, what do I do?

Send it to our head office. We'll investigate all requests. You'll receive either a prize or a letter explaining why your ticket wasn't a winner.

  10. What time are the draws held for jackpot and draw products?

Sales for jackpot and draw products close at 10:00 pm Atlantic Time and the draws take place immediately after the sales close and are reconciled. Before the official winning numbers are communicated to the public, there is a lot of work going on in the background to confirm and validate the winning number. This verification process can take up to two hours. Once the numbers are confirmed, all media contacts are contacted and informed of the winning number.

The winning numbers are usually posted on www.corp.alc.ca between 11:30 PM and 12:00 AM.

  11. How can I verify a ticket and claim a prize if it was purchased in Atlantic Canada, and I am now outside of Atlantic Canada?

Winning numbers are available on our website to allow you to verify your ticket.  If you feel you have a valid winning ticket, please fill out the back of the ticket and mail it to Atlantic Lottery for verification.  Any prize will be mailed to the address that you provide.  Please allow 4 to 6 weeks for processing.

  12. What happens if a MAXMILLIONS prize isn't won?

If the $50-million Jackpot is won, any MAXMILLIONS that are not won are added to the next base ($10-million) LOTTO MAX Jackpot (they do not carry forward as MAXMILLIONS prizes). If the $50-million Jackpot is not won, any MAXMILLIONS that are not won carry forward to the next draws as MAXMILLIONS prizes.

  13. What happens when there is more than one winner of a MAXMILLIONS draw?

The $1-million MAXMILLIONS prize is shared among the winners of that MAXMILLIONS draw.

  14. How do I win a MAXMILLIONS prize?

For each MAXMILLIONS Draw, seven numbers are drawn from among all numbers from 1 – 49. You must match all seven of the seven numbers drawn for that MAXMILLIONS Draw (there are no subsidiary prizes).

  15. Is my LOTTO MAX ticket eligible for MAXMILLIONS draws?

When MAXMILLIONS prizes are available, your LOTTO MAX ticket not only gives you a chance at the $50-million Jackpot, but it also gives you a chance to win any of the $1-million MAXMILLIONS Draws on the same date!

  16. What are MAXMILLIONS?

MAXMILLIONS are additional $1-million prizes that are drawn when the Lotto Max jackpot reaches $50 million. MAXMILLIONS Draws are separate from the Main Jackpot Draw.
