Atlantic Lottery History

When Atlantic Lottery was founded on Sept. 3, 1976, we offered just one game. Today our players enjoy traditional lottery games and some of the newest Internet and social games out there. We don’t like to toot our own horn too much but we are considered one of the leaders in gaming technology, design, and financial and security controls too.

Innovation

Atlantic Lottery was the first lottery to ...

  • launch and market a "spiel" game in Canada, known to our players as TAG. Today spiel games are sold across the country!
  • develop in-house expertise and facilities to repair and maintain gaming terminals.
  • develop the technology to place bar codes on lottery tickets.
  • introduce bar-code readers/wands to validate tickets.
  • develop PROS (Prize Redemption Online System), allowing validation of online and instant games on a retailer's terminal. Now used worldwide, PROS set a new standard for the gaming industry.
  • introduce video lottery in Canada.
  • successfully develop bingo into a lottery ticket.
  • allow players to claim prizes up to $10,000 at any branch of the Bank of Nova Scotia in Atlantic Canada.
  • launch a website in North America.
  • develop a PC-based lottery terminal.
  • develop the first IP-based (Internet Protocol) lottery terminal network.
  • launch a free online membership club in Canada. eClub Rewards members can preview new games and promotions, receive winning numbers and enter contests.
  • turn its regional LOTTO 6/49 spiel game  - Atlantic 49 - into a stand-alone game as well.
  • sell lottery tickets online in North America through a secure, regulated website.
  • offer a regulated multiplayer internet bingo product online which allows players to chat.
